Production Manager, Summer 2026 Production
Position Overview: MidCoast Shakespeare Studio is seeking a Production Manager for its upcoming Summer Shakespeare production of (Lady) Macbeth, in Belfast ME, running April - June 2026. This is a paid, temporary, part-time, independent contractor (W9).
Compensation: Hourly rate of $16/hour.
Anticipated 10 hours/wk for 8 wks, plus 20 hours for the week of tech and performances, May – June, 2026.
Location: Belfast, ME
This is a local hire – no housing or transportation is provided.
The Production Manager works closely with the Producer to complete all production tasks.
General Responsibilities:
Assists Producer with department deliverables list, deadlines for each deliverable, and following up on all deadlines
Assists department heads with local volunteer recruitment and maintenance
Maintains updated budget in conjunction with the Producer
Promotes show through media, flyers, paid ads, social media and coordinating with Producer
Attends periodic rehearsals, for familiarity with cast and crew
Lines up local businesses/entities to sponsor performances
Oversees ad collection for program
Assists Producer with money collection for sponsorships
Oversees other program deliverables
· Communicate and coordinate with Parks and Rec department for access to performance space, safe working conditions, use of park resources, and reservation of park pavilion as prep and holding area.
· Coordinates with Stage Manager, Director and Cast to successfully complete Flyer Day and other cast volunteer opportunities to support the show.
Recruits and oversees Front of House Manager, Concessions, all volunteers for outdoor performances. Please note: ALL Volunteers must be properly trained on duties, and on expectations when interacting with cast, crew and patrons.
Arrange with volunteer photographer for Cast Photos and Publicity Photos to be taken
Oversee date stickers for Yard Signs, as well as placement and recovery of Yard Signs
Schedule sandwich sign text and placement at park (typically occurs at first set build)
Touch base with all volunteers for FoH and Concessions, to confirm availability, call times, parking, etiquette and dress code.
· Attend all rehearsals during Tech Week, and all performances.
· Greet audience members, help manage volunteers as needed by FoH Manager, be on hand to trouble-shoot issues.
· After each performance, assist with clean up and breakdown of the front of house, performance, and green room space, as needed.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in professional or academic theatre
2+ years’ experience in Production or a related field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable with one-on-one interaction with potential donors, sponsors, and members of the public
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Experience in managing budgets and schedules
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver’s license (personal vehicle a plus)
18+ years of age
Reports To: Producer
Candidates with parallel experience such as Tech Director, General Management, Technical Theatre work at department-head level will be considered and are encouraged to apply.

Costume Coordinator, Summer 2026 Production
Volunteer
MidCoast Shakespeare Studio is seeking a volunteer Costume Coordinator for its upcoming Summer Shakespeare production of (Lady) Macbeth. This is an unpaid, volunteer position.
Anticipated 6-10 hours a week for 3 weeks, with additional hours during tech and performances.
Location: Belfast, ME
The Costume Coordinator works closely with the Artistic Director and Production Manager, to help organize costuming needs, schedule and manage costume fitting sessions with cast members, and arrange for costume loans and/or purchases as necessary.
This is a great opportunity for someone new to theater costuming and/or new to outdoor theater productions.
No costume design experience needed.
Basic sewing skills, particularly hand-sewing, required. Fitting skills a plus, but not required.
Comfortable with one-on-one interaction with cast members
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
18+ years of age
Great attitude and willingness to have fun and learn a must!
