The Young Bloods (July 14th-Aug 1st, Mon, Wed, Fri)

$150.00

“Something feral this way comes…” with MCSS’s youth summer program! Curious to know more about Shakespeare through the lens of Twelfth Night? Want creative writing opportunities? Maybe you want to dip your toe into the performance pool but aren’t quite ready for the main stage. Whether it’s movement, writing, performing, crew and design work, or just familiarizing yourself with Shakespeare, this 3-week program is for you!

Led by MidCoast founding member Natalie Hebert, Young Bloods is a 3-week workshop running through July 14th-Aug 1st for rising 4th-8th graders. Alongside the Main Stage production of Twelfth Night (our Summer Shakespeare Festival production), we’ll spend our Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10am to 1pm immersed in the world of Shakespeare!

Through writing, design, movement, and collaboration with our Main Stage productions team, we will learn about the professional theater and leave with a deeper appreciation for one of The Bard’s most loved plays. We will work primarily at our studio space in the Belfast Center, but will also take walking trips to share our work with the Belfast community!

Our hope is to foster a love of theatre, get outdoors, make some noise, and broaden the idea of what it means to experience Shakespeare!

If this opportunity interests you but you fall outside the targeted age group, please reach out! MCSS welcomes conversations about how we can best serve the Belfast community. We want as many curious theater-makers to participate as possible!
