Costume Manager, Summer 2026 Production
Position Overview: MidCoast Shakespeare Studio is seeking a Costume Manager for its upcoming Summer Shakespeare Festival production of (Lady) Macbeth, in Belfast ME, running June 2026.
Compensation: This is a volunteer position. MidCoast Shakes is a 501c3, so all donated time is tax-deductible. We are also happy to work with persons looking for school credit in this position.
Location: Belfast, ME
The Costume Manager works closely with the Producer to complete all production tasks.
General Responsibilities:
Work with Artistic Director to create costume breakdowns
Line up costume options for each role, utilizing costuming from the company’s wardrobe, as well as purchases and loans
Arrange for actors to try on and work with costume options
Keep costumes organized for rehearsals and performances
Assist actors with costuming as necessary during performances
This is a local hire – no housing or transportation is provided.
Qualifications:
Basic sewing skills, including hand-sewing
Experience with fitting a plus, but not required
Comfortable supporting actors
Excellent organizational skills
Experience in managing schedules and deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver’s license with access to personal vehicle
18+ years of age
